Information about Koh Samui
Koh Samui
is an island situated off the east
coast in southern Thailand. It is the largest of an
archipelago (cluster of islands) of more than 80 islands of
the Angthong Marine National Park (The golden bowl), which
for greater part is uninhabited.
With an area of approximately
250 square kilometers, it’s the third largest island of the
Kingdom after Phuket and Koh Chang.
The closest city is Suratthani which is approximately 60
kilometers west from the island on the mainland.
Discovered in the early 70’s by backpackers during a time
when there were only simple accommodations such as beach
front huts that did not have electricity or tap water. The
people on the island back then, were mainly fisherman or
farmers of coconut plantations.
Presently, Koh Samui still produces more than
2 million coconuts a month! As you fly into Samui airport
you will be taken back by the stunning scenery of the
coconut palms that line the shores of the crystal white
sandy beaches and refreshingly clean blue sea.
Accessing Koh Samui is conveniently easy with direct flights
ever hour from Bangkok International airport or you can take
a more scenic route by train and a short ferry ride to the
paradise island.
In a relatively short space of time, Koh
Samui, has built a reputation as one of the world’s most
stunning tropical paradise with services and facilities of
international quality.
The perfect place for investment or just a holiday.
